National Numeracy ambassador Denise Welch stars in Celebrity Hunted

14 Jan 2025

National Numeracy’s newest ambassador, Denise Welch, has taken on one of her biggest adventures to date by appearing in TV series Celebrity Hunted.

Celebrity Hunted series six

It’s one of the toughest challenges on TV – to evade capture by an expert team of ‘hunters’ by going ‘off-grid’ for 14 days.

This Sunday sees Channel 4’s Celebrity Hunted, which is in aid of Stand Up To Cancer, reach its halfway point and National Numeracy ambassador, Loose Women panellist and actress Denise Welch, along with her husband, Lincoln Townley, have so far managed to escape detection.

The series also features Duncan James and Christine McGuinness, Giovanni Pernice and Kai Widdrington, David Whitely and Zeze Mills, Simon McCoy and Lucrezia Millarini, and Danielle Harold and Kimberly Hart-Simpson.

Denise follows fellow National Numeracy ambassadors Bobby Seagull and Katya Jones, who teamed up with Saffron Barker and Aimee Fuller respectively to take part in the 2023 series.

Just like Bobby and Katya before her, Denise has been using numeracy to help her with a range of skills needed for the task, in particular navigation.

Perhaps taking part will see Denise improve her numeracy skills, just like Bobby did.

“Historically, my sense of direction and navigation are not where I want them to be, but during the course of Celebrity Hunted I really developed my sense of getting on trains, going off the beaten path and working out directions. It made me realise that in most things in life, you can get better with a bit of effort. That show really brought it out for me that I have got better than I was."
