Filippo delivered his My Maths Story assembly and supported the Maths in the Real World class session at St Paul’s Whitechapel Primary on National Numeracy Day in May and enjoyed it so much he volunteered to visit Cayley Primary School in July too.

Rebecca Foster, teacher at St Paul’s Whitechapel CE Primary School said:

"Filippo delivered the assembly with professionalism and enthusiasm and he interacted well with pupils who asked questions. The assembly was engaging and used information, questioning and videos well. It was well delivered and the pupils got a lot out of it. The classroom session lesson plan was very straightforward and well organised. Year 5 had a great discussion about stereotypes in the workforce and how maths is linked to everybody in everyday life."

Filippo said, “The session was fantastic, very interactive and enjoyable, seeing the students sitting before me gave me a profound sense of accomplishment”.

In partnership, Capital One and National Numeracy have a shared commitment to addressing social mobility and supporting people with the number confidence to succeed in life. Capital One were the start-up funder for National Numeracy’s Corporate Volunteering Programme and eagerly continue to get involved as volunteers, helping us to inspire children across the UK with meaningful maths in the real world sessions.

As the school year draws to a close, we celebrate and thank the 100 volunteers from nine corporate partners who have enthusiastically delivered assemblies and supported class sessions with 96 schools across the UK, supporting Number Confidence Week, National Numeracy Day and Volunteer’s Week and reaching over 16,000 children.

Thank you too to all the wonderful schools who have hosted our volunteers, we hope they have a relaxing summer break and look forward to many more assemblies and class sessions in the autumn.
