Richard delivered his My Maths Story assembly to a Year 4 class from Mellers Primary School at a Volunteers Week event at Experian’s Nottingham offices earlier this month.
Richard spoke about how he felt about maths when he was at school, how he uses maths in his job to make better decisions and how it helps him in his life outside of work. Richard said, "The kids asked some amazing questions and it was a really enjoyable experience."
At the event the children also met other volunteers who work at Experian as part of our Maths in the Real World class session. They found out about the varied careers available and how they all use maths every day. The children also enjoyed a tour of the office.

"What a fantastic morning we all had! The children are still talking about it now. Richard was so good, we loved how he made the assembly relevant to our children, especially the personal touches he added to the assembly. Quite a few of the children have talked about how they want to use maths as an adult as a result."

Together we are inspiring children and adults to see the value of everyday maths, and shining a light on improved numeracy for financial wellbeing both early on and throughout our lives.
63 volunteers from our corporate partners have enthusiastically delivered assemblies and supported class sessions to 47 schools across the UK this school term, supporting our National Numeracy Day campaign and Volunteers Week and reaching approximately 7,900 children.
