A national maths problem

As a nation, our numeracy levels are alarmingly low.

Over a third of adults experience maths anxiety, which can get passed down through generations (One Poll, 2023).

A significant 54% of girls and 43% of boys lack confidence in learning maths (Teach First, 2024) and 27% of children are below target levels in maths at the end of primary school (Department for Education, 2024).

Empowering communities to thrive

Our volunteering programme is creating a community of role models, dedicated to addressing the numeracy issue.

It also offers the chance for our partners to directly support their local communities. Our mission is to empower disadvantaged communities to thrive, as disadvantaged children fall ten months behind their wealthier peers in maths by age 11 (Education Policy Institute, 2024).

Between September 2023 and July 2024, we trained 145 volunteers from our partners Capital One, CISI Future Foundation, Experian, Kartesia, KPMG, London Stock Exchange Group, S&P Global, TP ICAP and Vanquis Banking Group.

Inspiring children to see the value of maths

100 of our volunteers headed into schools across the country, delivering a total of 105 assemblies and 125 class sessions!

And the results were incredible, with 94% of teachers surveyed agreeing that the sessions inspired children to see the maths in life beyond school.

Thank you to the CSR Leads and volunteers from our corporate partners for their time and commitment to the success of the second year of the programme, and thanks too to all the schools who have taken part!
